Sick at the wrong time

just had the worst fever in my recent memory, on the night before my pchem prelim :(

then again, there's no "right" time to be sick at Cornell, cuz i can't afford any time to rest at home without screwing up my work.

fever sux, weather sux, school sux.

(only japanese dramas rock. ;) )

Still alive

thursday nights are my curse: i slept at 5.30am last night, no i mean this morning, in order to complete my pchem homework. then i woke up at 8.30am to finish my japanese homework before sch started.

But i am refraining from complaining because pchem and japanese are my favorite classes this sem cuz of my superb professor/teacher.

i have alr fallen to the flu virus that has been lingering in the house for at least a month and i know the last thing i should do is to sleep this little, but i really can't help it becuz every piece of homework counts and the median of each homework is always close to 100 marks and i have already screwed up the previous homework so i can't hand in another incomplete problem set again!

but i am still very much artificially awake right now at 1.05am because the effect of caffeine still hasn't worn off since morning time. and, because i am bloated with good food from the fortnightly house dinner!

SATAYS !!!, Carrot cake (both 'black' AND 'white'!), shui jiao, guo tie! and all taste like the authentic ones we eat in singapore! Welcome to the Singaporean House, where only high-quality Singaporean food is served, brought to u by the fabulous Chief Chef Hong.

Coupled with dessert mango pudding, and bonus dessert ice cream brownie cake --combined efforts with my best baking buddy Christina, just for birthday-boy-to-be Shanon Chin :)-- all of us were soooooo full that even yx felt pregnant hahaha.

oh if you think i am the only insane masochistic person, huangyu came home at 2 am plus, yonglin slept at 3am plus, christina slept at 4.30am and joel slept at 6am. Welcome again to the Singaporean House, where muggers reside (but don't really sleep) and 'spoil the curve' (translation: huai4 the wan1. no hints on whose translation this is haha)

My classmate is damn cute: she made me watch the Japanese drama version of Meteor Garden with her when we got damn sian doing the pchem hw yesterday at the comp lab, and now i am sorta hooked to it! and she also lent me takuya kimura's Pride vcds today. omg, wo wan le...

i feel so clean and happy now because after procrastinating for 2 months, i FINALLY washed my winter jackets and scarf and gloves and beanies, and my bedsheet and comforter, and vacuumed my floor today!

my winter clothings finally have to make a come-back after being shelved away and left untouched for almost 5/6 months, because temperatures have plummeted to ard 5 deg celcius in the day and -2 deg celcius at night. Say goodbye to my sandals...

Sheesh, i really can't resist describing the weather in my blog bcuz i really feel it helps to put my current state of living in the right perspective! Really, living in a place like Ithaca where weather is not a constant, it becomes an impt exogenous factor in determining my mood and well-being and plans.

In any case, Montreal and Quebec were great! French cuisine burns a big hole in my pocket but rocks! And fantastic weather and great travel companions complete the perfect travel package :)

I have gone into deficit this month (consumption>income). i don't dare to think about my wealth after my Europe trip..... :

Time is running out

I dunno why but suddenly it just dawned on me that my days as a student are running out. So before my life evolves into a monotonous recurrent one typical of a working adult with pathetic number of annual leave, i have to make my winter and summer breaks as exciting as possible, and aim to jam all the following within 3 winter break and 2 summer breaks before i graduate:

1) go to as many US and Canadian cities and Central/South American while i am still here
2) summer internship
3) international volunteering
4) Beijing 2008 Olympic

eeeks no time no time!

I thought this sounds kinda silly...

...but anyways, during my macroecon prelim today, while i was arguing why as a President of Africa, i want to use the 1 million dollars donation to buy shoes for children instead of investing in research to eradicate the feet-attacking worms, which both increases labor efficiency, i suddenly felt deeply how much a not-very-large amount of money can do for these people living in poverty, and sometimes for all those lofty policies with lofty claims of "bringing a better future to the poor", these seemingly-altruistic rich countries/people seem to forget the simple fact that all these people need is just a little love and empathy to what they really need.

well, i think i am reading way too much into ONE prelim question, and in any case i might have been arguing in the wrong direction bleaghz, but actually, i am kind of suspecting this is exactly the hidden agenda of my professor who, despite his punch-deserving i-think-i-am-way-superior-to-all-you-smug-americans-HAA arrogance, has been subtly weaving in the idea of helping the economically underdeveloped countries while teaching us his favorite Solow model. :P

oh did i mention i am very entertained by his suanings of the americans? hahaha. not tt i am anti-americans but it's just very amusing i thought haha.

today, my Japanese teacher explained to me her pet phrase "na ru ho do" (she doesnt even realised how often she's using it hahaha) means "yuan2 lai2 ru2 ci3" and my eyes bulged in surprise, "you can speak Chinese???" lol. her intonation was flawless - very impressed.

the days are getting colder, permanently. after tmr's hot day (20 deg C), it's gg to drop to close close to zero deg C at night. BRRRRR....

shucks, i need to stop thinking of getting ANOTHER new jacket.
